Alligator Stew

CD - 'welcome to Monticello...LIVE!!!'
by Mary Rudy

Alligator Stew is one mean machine when it comes to their music. Every CD they have ever put out there has been a spectacular piece of work. Except for one thing, each CD goes beyond superceding the last. Just as I think they can't do any better than this, they throw one my way that totally puts me in awe-ville......'welcome to Monticello' is a live version that you can hear and feel the energy, stamina and excitement that Alligator Stew is feeding their audience. And they are loving it!!  This is the hottest sounding cd I have heard, and being a live recording, makes it even more HOT and EXCITING to hear.

There is not one bad tune on this CD, and I totally 150% recommend that you go out and get your copy today....This is the best CD ever, the vocals, instruments, songwriting, sound, engineering is fantastic.

I am so totally impressed with the A.S. team of musicians that I am going to take some time to share my own thoughts and feelings on this fantastic group of fine artists. Gary Jefferies has vocals that chills you to the bone. His raspy tones - wide level ranges combined with is sensual vocals will definitely pull you in. This is one of those artist that you could talk about forever. Jefferies has it altogether and has a technique all his own. And on that note I will add that other singers/artists could absolutely learn from this spectacular performer. John Andrews is the professional on the lap steel guitar, that every time he strikes a note - chills run up and down your spine. A.S. definitely has the #1 lap steel guitar player on their team of musicians. Chris Turbis is totally responsible for the dyn-o-mite Hammond B3/keyboard sounds. Chris must know his instrument better than he knows the back of his hand. He would have to in order to play so intensely as he does. Alligator Stew has the best Rhythm section in the music industry, and that consists of TC Markle burning his hot stiks up playing those solid-in the pocket drum action beats. Doug Richardson comes in with that killer groovin' bass guitar action that just goes and goes and goes and then well, Doug just keeps on going........excellent bass player. With a mix of musicians like the A.S. you can only end up with some of the hottest, most loved music around.

Heres the most difficult part of this review and that is to list some favorite songs, with Alligator Stew it's always impossible to do so. But here's a few: 'Louisiana Man' - between the vocals and instruments, the sound just keeps you going and going......'Shiner' is a laid back, down and dirty blues with that famous A.S. kicker.......'Blood Money' is my all time favorite, so matter how many times I listen to this tune, it affects me the same way, chills to the bone, grabs you by the heart and just pulls you in.....Make sure you listen for yourself at the Alligator Stew website at http://www.alligatorstew.com.
