CD Reviews  Jo Cuseo Jo Cuseo
Jo Cuseo and his self-titled 'Jo Cuseo' CD has outdone himself, here an artist with the ole' blues sound done in 2003-Cuseo style. Jo has attained the perfect balance of tightness that only comes through years of playing the way he does.

This is a well-oiled blues machine, with Jo's guitar making those superb blues licks that only Jo can make. Cuseo is a brilliant songwriter who hasn't lost sight of what the best blues is all about. No big pretense, no big hair, just one guy who would probably be doing the same thing in the garage if he wasn't doing it on stage (or in a radio station). This is what real blues is all about.

From the moment when the Cuseo CD started spinning I knew immediately that Jo Cuseo was a expert when it came to playing the guitar and belting out the blues vocals, its only obvious in the style and techniques of his playing and singing that his exceptional abilities are based on feel, touch, and most important, a sincere love of the blues guitar.

There are a number of blues guitar discs out there, and to the casual listener no doubt many are somewhat interchangeable. Guitarists, however - even those with extensive experience - will likely learn much from Jo Cuseo's mastery of the form. Player or not, most will find 'Jo Cuseo' CD an enjoyable listen; if you have no other like this in your collection, it's a good place to start. And taken as a lesson in the form, you just might find you've learned something! What real blues should sound like.

Make sure you trip on over to Jo Cuseo's website at http://www.jocuseo.com. Jo's 'The Answer' has such an ole blues feel with the blues guitar and his raspy vocals that it chills you to the bone. 'Stay with Me Awhile' again with raspy vocals but only in this tune Jo uses his raspy vocals extensively. I mean he pushes those vocal cords to the limit with plenty left over to finish out the song. And boy the way he plays that guitar, so ever pleasing to the ears, heart and soul. And just as you think he couldn't have any vocals left, along comes 'Rain on Me' which to me Jo had the vocal sounds of Rod Piazza, only stronger. And never failing, he pumps out the ole blues guitar sound again. What a cd, very well worth every cent spent........definitely a winner and a keeper. Excellent work Jo.....
