New Ron KEEL & IronHorse Album: Hard Rockin’ Southern Country Metal

Fall 2003

Ron Keel & IronHorse have wrapped up work on a new album that could shift the band’s career into high gear. The 12-song collection covers a lot of ground, giving IronHorse a diverse sound best labeled as Hard Rockin’ Southern Country Metal.

The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Kevin Beamish, who has numerous gold and platinum releases under his belt in several genres, making him the ideal choice to record the new IronHorse music. His accomplishments include everything from producing REO Speedwagon's "High Infidelity" (15 million sold) to engineering the latest Kenny Chesney smash "No Shoes No Shirt No Problems".

He has recorded thirty-five #1 songs in the past seven years alone. Metal aficionados know him from producing classic albums by Saxon ("Crusader" – 2 million sold), Y&T, and Michael Schenker; he has also worked with IronHorse vocalist Ron Keel before, having produced KEEL's "Rock N Roll Outlaw" for the "Dudes" movie soundtrack.

The new album kicks off with the Ron Keel-composed anthem "American Thunder", a tribute to the American people and the music they love. In addition to compositions written by Ron and other members of IronHorse, the disc features songs from a number of established songwriters: Wynn Varble, whose latest #1 hit was Daryl Worley’s "Have You Forgotten", contributes "Hearts Of Steel". Henry Paul, lead vocalist for BlackHawk and The Outlaws, wrote "Dixie Highway" and sings a duet with Ron on that track. Marshall Tucker Band guitarist George McCorkle & D. Scott Miller wrote "The Best Move", a strong choice for the album’s first single. And keeping with the tradition of putting a cover song on every album, IH recorded a stellar version of the Steve Earle classic "The Other Kind".

There are radio-ready hits such as "The Best Move", "Hearts Of Steel", and "Desert Rain" and there are also epic rock album cuts ("Under The Gun" and "One Hell Of A Ride" both clock in at over seven minutes). Anthems like "American Thunder", "The Other Kind", and "Dixie Highway" ride alongside classic ‘story songs’ such as "Haunted Saloon" and "Three Sheets To The Wind" (which explores the dark side of domestic violence and revenge). Songs of love, pain, and real life ("One Hell Of A Ride", "Follow Your Heart", "Half Past Goodbye") are performed with a larger-than-life energy and recorded with state-of-the-art production.

Music that makes you feel something, enjoy yourself, and keeps you coming back for another listen.
