CD Review   Alastair Greene Band Official Bootleg: Live in L.A.

Alastair Greene - Official Bootleg: Live in LA

Alastair Greene Band - ' Official Bootleg: Live in L.A.'
by Mary Rudy

Alastair Greene - A Little Wiser

Alastair Greene has always had my attention when it came to Blues music with HOT musicianship. Having the pleasure of reviewing his 'A Little Wiser' cd I knew his 'Live in LA' cd would be nothing short of excellent and spectacular. But as always Alastair has some superb tricks to pull out of that talented heart and soul of his.

The Alastair Greene Band 'Official Bootleg: Live in LA' cd is the most outstanding piece of music I have heard. It doesn't matter if you are a blues or Rock lover of music. The musicianship of these musicians will suck you into their world 'Big Time' and everyone of the instruments have the ability to hold you there until they are ready for you to be released. And those musicians that will hold you hostage is: Alastair Greene - guitar/vocals.....Steve Utstein - Hammond B3.....Jack Kennedy - bass......Tom Lackner - drums.

In My opinion as a guitar player Greene is right up there with the SRV, Albert King, BB King, Muddy Waters and all the other fantastic blues players. Alastair can hold his own right along with all the great players.

Every song on this cd is of #1 material and professionally done by the Alastair Greene Band. The tracks that caught me by the heart strings were: 'Say What You Want' - can't say enough about thAlastair Greene Bandis one, spectacular job AG.....'3 Bullets' - excellent song, can listen to this one all the time..........Greene showed his true expertise in Albert King's 'Love too Strong', Greene takes you to the edge, lays you down gently and then grabs you quick and squeezes your heart and soul with those HOT LICKS n' NOTES of his. Man what a feeling!

Now onto the rest of the band. The keyboard player, Steve Utstein, is beyond super, blew me away at every note but kept me yearning for more. The rhythm section of Jack Kennedy (bass) and Tom Lackner (drums), is absolutely spectacular, sharp~clear~crisp~solid drum beats and bass grooves~in the pocket. The AGB has some excellent dynamics. You can catch the Alastair Greene Band at www.agsongs.com , make sure you pick up your own cd and keep the AGB on your player at all times.
