CD Review   Doc Holliday A Better Road

Doc Holliday - 'A Better Road'
by Mary Rudy, http://www.muzikreviewz.com

Doc Holliday has put together an excellent cd in 'A Better Road' with some of their finest and biggest hits from 1980-1981. They are Southern Rockers through and through. You don't need to be a southern rock fan to enjoy this cd, but, you do need to appreciate good music, the highest caliber of musicianship, outstanding talent and spectacular songwriting. So if you appreciate all these factors in music then this is the cd for you, your heart, your soul and your total enjoyment of listening to great music.

The musicians on this cd are powered with turbo driven musicianship and they are: From the 1980-1981 Doc Holliday band: Bruce Brookshire - guitars/lead vocals.....Rick Skelton - lead guitar/backup vocals.....Eddie Stone - keyboards/backup vocals.....John Samuelson - bass/backup vocals.....Herman Nixon - drums......and presently the Doc Holliday band is: Bruce Brookshire - guitars/lead vocals.....John Turner Samuelson - lead guitar/backup vocals.....Eddie Stone - Hammond B3/keyboards/backup vocals.....Daniel Bud Ford - bass/backup vocals.....Danny Cadillac Lastinger - drums...ALL SONGS produced and engineered by Bruce Brookshire.

M.R. HOT PICKS are: Track #1 'Jailbreak' breaks out this cd right at the first play, good choice!.....Track #2 'Good Boys Gone Bad' brings out some southern rockish blues tones, love this one.....Track #5 'A Better Road' the dobro almost plays just to us individually.....Track #6 'Angels in Waiting' is a beautiful song and true, lets say that its inspired by those many backstage girls.....Track #7 'Dead Mans Road' is one heck of an outstanding tune, can't get this out of my head.....

Before closing this review I need to comment on Track #10 'Lonesome Guitars'. As with the whole cd, the vocals are totally awesome, that has no problem what-so-ever with the high or low ends of the spectrum. The musicianship is superb, the instruments speak to your hearts and souls. The lead guitar cries out and is played with a force that drives hard into the listener. And the keyboards/B3 will give you chills to the bone. It's totally remarkable.
