Get ready for the biggest blues meltdown you have ever experienced or heard, Spoonful James is packed with wild and hot musicians that are after you and your attention: and believe me 'they get what they go after'.
All blues lovers will not be able to put this one down, but you know
what? You dont need to be a blues lover to enjoy this cd. The 'Seven Mile Breakdown' will capture all music lovers attention and then its
your heart and soul. With this cd playing away in my ear I can not believe the musicianship I am hearing, it is way beyond excellent, superb or spectacular.
Every single track keeps tuggin' on your ole heartstrings. Not only do
you catch the emotions in the vocals, but then you got all that emotion flowin' from each instrument.
And that Seven Mile Breakdown Team is: Wynn Christian - lead vocals/guitar.....Quinn Borland - bass.....Patrick Lanceford -drums.....Spencer Pope - hammond B3, rhodes, piano.....With additional players: Bonnie Bramlett - vocals/backup vocals.....Jay Wilson - wurlitzer, backup vocals, hammond B3.....Clayton Ivey - wurlitzer.....Buddy Miles -drums, backup vocals.....Muscle Shoal Soul Revues - horns.....Harvey Thompson - tenor sax.....Brad Guin - bari sax.....Mickey Buckins - tambourines/percussion/bathroom door.....Charles Rose - trombone/arrangement.....Ken Watters - trumpet.....John Hughey - pedal steel.
Maybe these 'Thesaurus' definitions will describe what Im hearing and what you will hear also: Spoonful James "Dynamics": active, forceful, kinetic, energetic, motive, mighty, vigorous (powerful).
When you take musicians that carry a high level of caliber as these do and fold in a singer with exploding raspy and sexy vocals, what do you get? You got it!
THE SPOONFUL JAMES
Every track explodes on this cd, so I will only mention "The MR Picks" and they are: Tracks #1 'Seven Mile Breakdown'.....#4 'Too Many Things'.....#5 'Too Late'.....#6 'Closing In' just plain excellent material.....#7 'Ain't No Way' has some hot leads, drum tracks, keys that will chill you to the bone. On Tracks 1 and 5 for example Bonnie Bramlett totally rips right into it. What a dyn-o-mite voice.
