CD Reviews Orcastra, Jon Bare and the Killer Whales Mega Truth
[includes/Left.html]

Orcastra, Jon Bare and the Killer Whales, Mega Truth
Records, 2001

Jon Bare is quite accomplished, being a computer
database expert, a contributing editor to Recording
Magazine, a book author, and so on. He is also a
musician with his own orcastra.
Songs like Bone Appetite and Shakey are energetic
with Bare's rock guitar, and there is a lot of care in the production. There are plenty of horn arrangements, and there are even a sitar and tabla on Be My
Someone. There is variety, too. Mo'Money has an island flavor, while Get Funky, well, gets funky.
The CD has a seventies flavor, with its use of rock guitar with a blues base and soul drenched horns. Fans of the era and those of good time, uncomplicated music
should like this collection of eleven songs.
Bare has worked with former members of the Doobie Brothers, Ozzy, and Vanilla Fudge. If you are looking for CDs to replace some of your old vinyl records, you
might want to get this one instead, and try something different that has the same type of feeling and sound.
