Zak Daniels and the One Eyed Snakes
CD – 'Snakeland'
“ZAK DANIELS And The ONE EYED SNAKES are straight ahead,
in your face, kick-ass Rock and Roll! The way our listeners like
it." This quote from their website is right. You might suspect
that from a group that calls themselves the One Eyed Snakes. That
also gives you about what the songs are about, as if you couldn’t
tell from titles like “Silcone,” “Bar Hoppin’
Blues,” and “Hollywood Sleazer”. The back cover,
which features a naked girl with a snake wrapped around her leg,
might confirm your suspicions.
Zak and the boys keep their promise about delivering kick ass
rock, though, with the classic rock lineup of two guitars, bass,
and drums. There is a guest on keyboards, but he is rarely heard.
Jim Katsikides on lead and Daniels on rhythm (with perhaps a bit
of overdubbing) produce a solid sound, mix together well, and
never get in each other’s way.
This CD has a classic rock sound, with all but one of the songs
having a least a reference to babes. “Wheels of Justice”
is the exception, with lyrics that include “Wheels of justice
need a lube job”. And NONE are ballads. What more could
you want?
