The Peach Truck Republic
Barnboard Blonde (Peach-Key Records)
Stephen Centanni
“Barnboard Blonde” is the third release from this
soulfully Southern band out of Ft. Worth, TX, and The Peach
Truck Republic is demonstrating tons of talent with this one.
These guys are proving that it takes more than just playing
for ten minutes plus to create an admirable jam sound. One unique
aspect of this release is that Jerry Jewell, Justin Cox, Evan
O’Jones and Wes Dismuke combine their harmonic talents
for the vocals on a majority of the songs, which is a rarity
these days in rock and roll. With its opening song “Handsome
Johnny,” “Barnboard Blonde” hits the unknowing
listener with pristine vocal combinations and rollicking instrumental
talent that establishes Peach Truck Republic’s unique
sound. Peach Truck trips lightly across the genres with their
bluesy, corporeal grooves “Come What May” and “Tried
and True as well as the bluegrass-influenced “Skin Deep.”
Peach Truck is a definite up-and-comer with a lot of potential.
If they keep up their sound, then I wouldn’t be surprised
to catch them at Bonnaroo, Vegoose or the Austin City Limits
Festival in the near future.
