Southern Gentlemen
Third Time Is The Charm (Leviathan Records)
Stephen
Centanni
In Atlanta, Ga., hard rock has a very prominent
presence in the music scene that has been garnering quite a
bit of attention across the Southeast. Leviathan Records Southern
Gentlemen is prime evidence of this, and their third release
(appropriately named “Third Time Is The Charm”)
demonstrates their extremely Southern, extremely rocking musical
attitude. This release allows the listener to physically witness
the evolution of roadhouse rock at its finest with blues intermingling
with hard rock. Songs like “It’s Not True”
takes the listener into Southern Texas with David T. Chastain’s
exemplary guitar skills and Eric Johns’ screaming blues
vocals. One to look out for on “Third Time I The Charm”
would have to be “I’m Down.” Chastain’s
bouncing finger-trips up and down the fret board establishes
his street credibility and is highly complimented by Johns’
vocals and the talents of Dave Swart on bass and Mike Haid on
drums. This is a must for any true fan of rock.
